The Scholastic site offers links for teachers, students parents and administrators. It is a great spot for reading and learning about current events, as well as reading about popular books.

This site is good for beginning readers. It includes activities for learning about letters, phonics, writing and much more.

Math
An animated, interactive math dictionary which explains over 500 common math terms in simple language.
A host of interactive math sites for elementary grade levels. Practice offered in all areas of math, including number operations, data analysis, patterns, fractions, algebra and logic.

Students can get a username and password for this site from their math teacher. This site not only offers extra practice, students can view the actual text book pages.

Research
A kid friendly version of Ask Jeeves. A safe search engine for students to use while conducting reasearch.
Online research tool sponsored by Scholastic. You must log on to this site with a username and a password. Students of EBR can use the username "baton" and the password "rouge."
A web search for kids created by librarians.

A kid-friendly search engine that can be used for research projects and for fun.

Science
A resource site for teachers that includes links to interactive sites for grades K-5.

This site provides a wide variety of science resources, links and more. It includes a section just for kids, called Kidzone.

Social Studies
Geography Web Sites for grades K-5. This site is sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools, Rockville, Maryland.
A resource site for geography, history, culture and contempary issues.
Teaching Resources
Intervention Central offers free tools and resources to help school staff and parents to promote positive classroom behaviors and foster effective learning for all children and youth. The site was created by Jim Wright, a school psychologist from Central New York. Visit to check out newly posted academic and behavioral intervention strategies, download publications on effective teaching practices, and use tools that streamline classroom assessment and intervention.

Technology
A comprehensive site that includes links for K-12 teachers, assessment assistance, online practice modules, and a daily dose of the web. The assessment site also includes an online countdown timer.
Easy, friendly tutorial on creating PowerPoint presentations. This site also includes a teacher's guide.
Tools
The East Baton Rouge libary site. Search their online catalog, renew library books and more.

A great resource for parents, students and educators. This site also includes information regarding school board policies, lunch menus and testing information.

 

The Lousiana Department of Education site. Information regarding grade level expectations and curriculum standards can be found at this site.

Standardized Testing Information for LEAP and ILEAP testing can be found at this site. Students can also practice sample test questions by selecting the student section. Then choose sample test questions and the grade you wish your child to take.

Once you create a student account in class, students can log in to explore websites that match their interests and learning styles.
